Thirty Years, One Tree.

There is a version of this business that grows eight species, hedges its bets, and sells whatever the market wants that season. We have never run it that way. Since 1992 Conser Trees has grown live oak — Quercus virginiana — and nothing else.

That focus is not sentiment. It is the reason our stock is consistent. Thirty years on one species means we know how a Florida live oak behaves in Alachua County sand, in a wet summer, in a hard freeze, at four inches and at ten. A grower splitting attention across a catalogue of species does not accumulate that.

We also plant on twelve-foot centres, which is wider than most operations will accept. It costs us trees per acre. In exchange every tree gets full sun on every side and builds the broad, horizontal canopy that makes a live oak worth planting in the first place.

And we grow to one grade. Florida Grades & Standards #1, on every tree, in every block. Since reopening as a family operation in 2017 we have kept that commitment exactly where it was — which means when an inspector walks a delivery, there is nothing to explain.
